The Key to Delivering Compelling Web Applications Quickly

The explosive growth of the Internet has created great opportunities for those busineses that can exploit technology to create a compelling presence on the Web. A compelling Web application needs a highly interactive and responsive graphical user interface with an infrastructure that still provides excellent performance as the number of concurrent users increases. Web applications that provide users with a more desktop-like application experience will have a big advantage over their competitors in the Internet marketplace. A Java-based GUI, downloaded as an applet into a browser, provides a more dynamic and responsive user interface than an HTML-based interface. A Java GUI makes a Web application seem more like a desktop application: its more attractive, conveys complex information better, and updates faster. Unfortunately, Java clients have been difficult to deploy because Java was immature, "fat client" applets were too large to download, and the developer had to create and maintain the connection between the client and the application server. Manually creating an efficient connection between a Java client and a middle-tier application server is time-consuming, error prone, and hard to maintain.

Thin Java Client? YES!

Classic Blend automates the creation of an "ultra-thin" Java client as the user interface tier of a 3-tiered architecture. Classic BlendÆs unique partitioning approach provides a highly responsive user interface by minimizing the data moved between the client and the application server. A Classic Blend enabled-architecture is more scalable than traditional Internet n-tiered architectures because it eliminates the heavy load on the application server caused by generating HTML pages. Three-tiered applications are built faster and more easily maintained with Classic Blend because it automates the client-application server connection à so you donÆt have to. Developers simply build an application with their traditional client-server tools and Classic Blend gives them a high performance third tier for "free". Classic Blend makes it simple to add an ultra-thin Java client tier to a new or existing Java application.
